TVP Telewizja Polska, often called TVP, is an upcoming MockGov News Service founded by Aleksander Mościcki on January 2, 2024. TVP was originally created as the national news network for Poland, but has expanded its outreach since then. The network has many programs and complex operations ranging from news to public data.

History

Polish National News Network

Poland made international headlines following the 2024 Polish Power Concert which was attended by many citizens and foreign dignitaries.

TVP Telewizja Polska was originally founded as the Polish National News Network (PNN). It served as Poland's first and largest source of information. PNN was subsidized by the government in order to promote elections and other political events. The news station was most notable for organizing and transmitting the Polish Power Concert on June 15, 2024. Sponsors included the Ministry of Internal Affairs, LOT Polish Airlines, ORLEN S.A., and PolAmerica Capital Group.

TVP Telewizja Polska

Following a decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the government institution responsible for the news service, the Polish National News Network rebranded to TVP Telewizja Polska and took on its current look. As a public service broadcaster, TVP is responsible for providing diverse content, promoting Polish culture, and serving the public interest, while also facing scrutiny regarding its editorial independence and political influence. It aligns with the conservative Law and Justice and Confederation parties in Poland. TVP is a state asset currently subject to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development.

Network Leadership

The Polish government, represented through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, holds the largest stake in TVP. It operates under public funding, including revenue from a mandatory TV license fee, advertising, and state subsidies. As a public broadcaster, TVP's operations are regulated by the government. However, there is an emphasis on its independence in terms of editorial content, though this has been a subject of controversy, especially under the Law and Justice (PiS) and Konfederacja parties, which have been accused of exerting influence over the broadcaster’s programming and editorial decisions.
